ATTENTION REBEL WRITERS! It is time to submit your fabulous writing to the English Awards. Each ECI winner's entry will be sent on the Waterloo County English Awards. At the county level there are a variety of prizes to won in each category. In-school submissions must be in by February 26th. The categories are: Junior Short Story, Junior Prose, Junior Poet, Senior Short Story, Senior Prose, Senior Poetry, Play Script, Children's literature- with pictures and without pictures.
Please bring your writing to the English office. See Ms Mackey or your English teacher for details.

Language Contests
Don't forget to see Mrs. Muller in room 327 for information about the annual French and German Contests next Semester, and remember to sign up for the Gr.11 Travel Language course being offered again in September. It's a great way to brush up on or/and learn enough of Spanish, Italian German and French to get by while you travel abroad. Looking for an opportunity for an international career? Gr. 10 German and French are your stepping stones.Science Contests
The annual University of Waterloo and University of Toronto science contests are fast approaching. If you are in grade 11 or 12 and interested in this exciting opportunity please see Mrs. Jain in the science office or visit the Science Department website for more details.Math Contests
The University of Waterloo math contests will be written in February and April, but the deadlines to sign up are coming up soon.
If you're interested in writing the Pascal ($3), Cayley ($3), Fermat ($3), Euclid ($10) or would just like more information, see your math teacher or sign up on the sheet outside the math office.
Registration for the grade 9, 10 and 11 contests end before 2nd semester begins, so if you don't have math now come to the math office for more information.

On Monday, March 29, at 8:30 am, Eastwood welcomes Chris Vollum (http://www.socialmediatrust.net) for a grade 9 assembly at 8:30 am, followed by an assembly for the grade 8 students of Sunnyside PS and a 7 pm presentation for interested parents and community members (in Eastwood's auditorium). From architecture and the environment to science fiction and virtual reality, students from across Canada will spend a week exploring the theme of Design with a community of like-minded peers.
Program fee: $400 (meals included), plus supervised overnight hotel accommodation of $300 ($60 per night).
